Being the son of Master Gemar was never easy on Palon. He rarely saw his father as a child. Servants saw to his care and tutors saw to his education. When he was older, Gemar fostered Corelliac, a young hopeful who showed great potential at becoming an animist. Palon, at this time, began working for his father doing minor tasks to lighten his burden. He rarely saw his father outside of his work and many of the interactions for Palon felt hollow. Through his education, Palon developed a deep respect for Masters. Although his father was an Animist, Palon education led him to find a deep connection to Chthon.
Palon never felt any jealousy for Brother Corelliac. Instead, he saw him as an extension of his father. Palon, one day, realized that all along that he was trying to hard to get his father to show his approval. As he saw Master Gemar work with Brother Corelliac, he realized his father was happy. Palon knew now that having a successor was his father's dream. Palon would never be that successor, but he knew that he could help assure the dream. Palon began to study about the Paladins of Tallon.
Once Palon knew he was ready, he approached his father and demanded to be taught how to fight. Palon explained that he would dedicate his entire life to become the Paladin of future Grandmaster Corelliac. Master Gemar considered the boy's request and hired a private tutor to train. Palon was taught to use the sword and bow. When his tutor was asked to go deal with some Barbarians causing trouble on the road to Karkul, his tutor invited Palon along to aid. Gemar showed pride in his son for the first time when he heard of his aid. To show his pride, he got Palon access to a Spirit Sword so that he could train further. Although he said nothing on it, Palon knew that his father thought that Palon had a chance.
Palon's training reached an end. His tutor taught him all he was allowed by law to teach. Palon knew what was next. His brother, Corelliac was not yet a Master and certainly yet a Grandmaster. Palon needed to head out and prove his worth.
