Joc is a short swarthy man. He keeps his dark curly hair short and well groomed. He secretly plucks the gray hairs from his beard, moustache and head. He even once had his hair morphically enhanced to get rid of the gray but sadly the line broke when he was forced to flee the a bounty hunter in Oradon. Joc is in excellent shape for a man his age; he exercises regularly. He wears leather armor padded with cloth for comfort and concealment. He keeps a quality two layered oil cloak over his draped sholders. The cloak conceals his twin short blades. The only obvious weapon he carries is a dagger at his side.

Joc was born into a failing barbarian tribe. The Nain were never a very large tribe and strugled to survive along the Braedor Coast. Sandwiched between a large population of Lyon de Mer ( a mutant variety that looks like the AD&D kind), and a large wolf tribe, resources were hard to come by. The Nain were refered to as the Hidden for they were most often the meek amongst the mighty. The tribes best defence was to remain undiscevered. Their final down fall came when the Nain surrendered to raiding Yzlonders. They were to be taken back to Yzlond as slaves but the boat that bore Joc sprung a leak. An unseen kraken gnawed at the bottom of the boat and would have sunk it if not for the fearless Gunlods of Yzlond who sucessfully drove it off. With their longboat taking on water and their crew depleted by the monster they desided to make for the nearest freeport. The Gunlods intended to repair their ship and continue on to Yzlond with their booty; they would leave one person shy. It was discovered during the sea voyage that Joc and his sister Jina, the only children on board, could squeeze through the bars of the Helka's hold. The first night in the port the children were encouraged to escape, to plead with the local authorities for their release. They tried but were given away by Jina's sobs. The scared child awoke their druken guard who quickly raised the alarm. Jina was swiftly caught but Joc dodged past, on to the dock and into the strange landscape of a city. Joc tried to get help for his tribe but could not speak Anglish ( his people spoke only O Kabekki ). It was not until the late the next morning that Joc found someone who spoke broken O Kabekki and got him help. The help was to little to late. The Helka disapeared into the gate maze of Coralia to the open sea never to be seen by Joc again. The man who had helped Joc get the harbor guard shruged his sholders and said " Bon chance mon ami." Joc was alone in a foriegn land. He survived by stealing food and living in the numerious abonded buildings of the city in decline. Joc being a very bright child quickly picked up the Merikian's strange language. An agile youth Joc proved to be an excelent if untrained thief. But even the best of thieves get caught and Joc was reckless in his youth. Joc was caught picking the pocket of a jewler. Joc dug his hand into the pouch of the rich man and came out with more wealth than he had ever known. Unfortunately as he did this an alarm sounded within the mans bag. His guards pounced on the dimunitive cutpurse. Joc was to quick and dove into the crowds of market. Joc had escaped this way many times but not this time for Tunis the Jewler was a sighted. Joc did not know this nor did he know what "sighted" was even though Joc was sighted himself. Tunis directed his guard to the basket where Joc hid and they grabed and held the strugling street urchin. To Joc's surprise Turis did not turn him in; instead he took him in. There was something about the child that reminded Turis of himself. He had understood Joc's O Kabekki curses to his guards and he too had been a thief in his youth. Turis the Jewler was a well known fence to thieves and scoundrels and this little thief was sighted just as he secretly was. Thus began Joc's apprentiship. He learned from Turis the fine art of the jewler and secretly the skills of a thief. For many years Joc traveled and learned from the old merchant. They would go from city to city, Turis applying his trade by day, Joc his by night. When one city became to hot they would move on to the next. This continued until the sad day that took Turis's life. Upon the road between Adala and Coralia their caravan was attacked by a band of riven. The mad creatures were driven off but Turis in the excitement of the fight suffered a massive heart attack. Before he died Turis passed on his merchant licence and said these last words " Be careful. Don't get caught ". Joc has tried to live up to the good standard set by Turis. He has been careful and has not been caught, at least not for long. For the most part, when he has thieved it has been after thorough planning, research and reconnaissance. Occasionally Joc cannot resist pinching some small unwatched trincket, though he fights this urge when he's concious of it. Joc, for the most part, works as a fence in a city until things get to hot. Then he quickly picks up and moves to the next town. As he has gotten older he has taken fewer and fewer chances resulting in a decline in his wealth. Joc's best and in a way worst job was in Coralia. He stole an enhanced emerald the size of his fist. He knew the stone could to easily be traced back to him so he cut the gem and sold the stones in Oradon. The angry master whom Joc had stolen from sought revenge against the thief and hired Yegar the bounty hunter to get Joc. Yeger caught up with Joc in Oradon who was living it up on the profits from the gem. Joc barely escaped the determined bounty hunter who slew 3 of Joc's guards. He got away with his life and little more. Joc is looking for a way to reverse his fortunes.

Joc is a good natured person who enjoys a strong drink, a good laugh, and a pretty women. He will often help those he feels need it for no more than the feeling it gives him. He believes in justice over law. He is striving to live up to the example Turis gave him when he took Joc in and raised him as his own.
